OFFICERS ELECTED TO LEAD “ONE CARE”

One Care of Southwest Virginia, Inc. will connect 154,000 citizens of Southwest Virginia to the healthcare services they need.

BLACKSBURG, Va. (December 2004) — The Board of Directors of One Care of SouthwestVirginia, Inc. has elected officers to lead the organization through December 31, 2006. This volunteer board is charged with implementing this new, technologically advanced system that is intended to link the uninsured and underinsured 154,000 residents of Southwest Virginia to the human and health services they need.

The newly elected officers are:

  • Tim Tobin , M.H.A. C.H.E., Chairman. Tobin is President and Chief Executive Officer of Clinch Valley Medical Center.
  • John Dreyzehner, M.D., M.P.H. FACOEM Vice-Chairman. Dreyzehner is Director of the Cumberland Plateau Health District.
  • Stan Stanczak, M.BA. Treasurer. Stanczak is Access Manager, Radford University FAMIS Outreach Project.
  • Vicky Collins, M.A., L.P.C, Secretary. Collins is Director, City of Radford Department of Social Services.

“One Care” is a non-profit corporation that is working to implement a new system to facilitate human services and health care to citizens in Southwest Virginia with a variety of needs, including those 154,000 who have no insurance or who are underinsured. Using COSMOS, an electronic web-based referral system, “One Care” has a goal of linking all human and health service agencies, both public and private, in the large, multi-county region of Virginia’s ninth congressional district. The system is intended to provide ports of entry for citizens with these unmet health and human services needs. This link will help to eliminate the current requirement to fill out numerous applications that often represent a barrier to getting services. Developed by Virginia Tech, Washington County Department of Social Services and People, Inc., COSMOS will be used as an intake, assessment, tracking and referral system. Incorporated in August 2003, “One Care” focuses on the needs of citizens, not any one provider or program.
